Best Overall Stay

Hampton Inn Murrells Inlet/Myrtle Beach Area

The closest conventional hotel in this shortlist to Murrells Inlet dining and the MarshWalk. It suits travelers who value a predictable room, parking, and a short drive to dinner more than oceanfront access; the beach still requires the car.

Upgrade Pick

Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort

A coastal resort centered on championship golf and beach access, about 10 minutes from Murrells Inlet. Villas, pools, and dining. Great for a full resort getaway.

Hotels

Hampton Inn Georgetown-Marina

A Georgetown marina-area hotel well south of Murrells Inlet. Consider it only when Georgetown, Winyah Bay, or an onward coastal route matters as much as the MarshWalk; it is too far away for a casual walkable inlet weekend.

Hotels

The Oceanfront Litchfield Inn

A smaller oceanfront Litchfield choice for travelers who want the Atlantic outside the property and quieter nights south of Murrells Inlet. Brookgreen and Huntington Beach are convenient; expect to drive north for the MarshWalk and most inlet restaurants.

Hotels

Garden City Inn

A straightforward Garden City oceanfront motel north of the inlet. Choose it for sand access, a pool, and a beach-first family stay rather than resort polish; summer traffic and the drive to Brookgreen or Pawleys Island are the principal tradeoffs.

Hotels

Surfside Beach Oceanfront Hotel

An oceanfront hotel north of Garden City with more beach-strip services nearby. It works for travelers splitting time between Surfside, Myrtle Beach, and Murrells Inlet, but it is not walkable to the MarshWalk and adds US-17 traffic to southern outings.

Stay

Georgetown Harbor Resort

This selection currently resolves to the Hampton Inn Georgetown-Marina property page. Treat it as a Georgetown marina base, not a Murrells Inlet resort: useful for Winyah Bay and south-coast travel, but a substantial drive from MarshWalk dinner.

Stay

Best Western Pawleys Island

A practical Pawleys Island-area hotel for a quieter south-end stay near Litchfield, Brookgreen Gardens, and Huntington Beach State Park. It trades inlet nightlife and oceanfront atmosphere for parking, simpler rates, and easier access to Pawleys-side outings.

Choose the address first

Three lodging zones, three different weekends

Murrells Inlet has relatively few conventional hotels beside the MarshWalk. Most visitors choose between a short drive to inlet dinners, an Atlantic-facing room north of town, or a quieter base south toward the parks and gardens.

Near Murrells Inlet

Hampton Inn Murrells Inlet is the practical choice when the MarshWalk and charter docks lead the trip. You gain a shorter dinner drive and conventional hotel parking, but not a room on the beach or a truly walkable boardwalk stay.

Garden City or Surfside Beach

Garden City Inn and Surfside Beach Oceanfront Hotel put the Atlantic outside the property and suit families building days around sand and pools. Expect to drive to every MarshWalk dinner and to cross more US-17 traffic for Brookgreen or Pawleys Island.

Litchfield or Pawleys Island

Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort and The Oceanfront Litchfield Inn are better placed for Huntington Beach, Brookgreen Gardens, and quieter nights. They trade quick MarshWalk access for beach or resort space; Pawleys options extend that trade farther south.

Georgetown properties are much farther south. Use them for Winyah Bay or a Georgetown stop, not as substitutes for a walkable Murrells Inlet weekend.

Booking Tips

Book Early for Summer

Peak season (June–August) fills up fast, especially properties near the Marsh Walk or the State Park. Book 2–3 months ahead minimum for July 4th weekend or summer holiday weeks.

Best Value: Spring & Fall

Late April through May and September through October offer near-perfect weather with significantly lower rates. The Marsh Walk is less crowded, the beach is quieter, and fishing is excellent.

Location Matters

Staying right on the Marsh Walk means walkable dinners and soft nightlife access. If beach is the priority, aim for properties near Garden City Beach or Surfside Beach, just a few minutes south.

Near Brookgreen & State Park

If Brookgreen Gardens and Huntington Beach are your main draws, look for rentals between Murrells Inlet and Pawleys Island — you'll be centrally located to hit both without backtracking.
